Combining psychotherapy with art is an extremely powerful route to healing. It assists our personal growth and enhances our wellbeing on all levels; physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Inspiration for healing happens when a person responds to felt sensations and deep intuition. Our bodies communicate their wisdom through muscle memories and the inner mind expresses itself in symbols, pictures and metaphor. By using all aspects of the expressive arts, personal expression, writing, drawing, modelling, movement and sound we can go deeper into our process and heal negative repeating patterns.
Healing Trauma through Art...
When we go into trauma we process things differently to normal life. In order to respond to what our minds see as a threat to our survival, the brain processes our emotional response separately from our understanding of time and space. When our trauma is re-triggered we can then experience the present as if it were in the past. This leads to stress and inappropriate responses and often someone feels that despite talking through issues nothing changes. The trauma could be from childhood, an accident or an incident. Trauma behaves like a vortex of energy held in the body waiting for and wanting completion. Using psychotherapy and art and movement in combination we can return to the situation in a safe way and express feelings and help them find their resolution.
An important aspect of healing through art is to feel that you are in a safe, non-judgmental space. Allow feelings and the process of the piece to flow as the creation of it is the journey to healing. It is not about the finished product and we try not to think of ourselves as artists. Often people have had very painful and negative experiences in their past to do with their self expression and creativity and healing through art can help with this.

you with a process to help gain a deeper connection with the way
your body communicates to you in every day life.
Birth...
Our birth is one of the most profound experiences we go through.
Stored in our sensory memory it’s process shapes patterns that
effect the rest of our life. As adults we hold this process in our
sub-conscious. This workshop will explore birth and prenatal memory
through personal expression, art, writing and experiential birth
regression in a safe environment to help release and transform
feelings and life patterns that are connected to and rooted in early
primal experience.
Tree of growth...
In
this workshop we will connect to the powerful growth of trees and
use fractel growth to mirror our own process. Using visualisation
and the flow of the art we will travel on a journey to see our self,
our roots and sub-conscious worlds and our higher minds, futures and
goals.
